So, I looked to use studio to just create mpeg2 files (after using their nice editor to add stills and transitions etc.). create files for burning, then use nero to burn from the video_ts folder, it gets the same result, the files are on the disk, but it does not play correctly. ![]() If I try to burn a dvd directly, it fails. The burning software does not work for me, however. I have an amd2400 and reasonably fast harddrives (ata66, 2meg buffers). ![]() The software is studio 8, which is nice, but crashes often. I even extend this with a 6 ft cable to a 4 way 2.0 hub. I picked up a 20 ft usb2.0 cable which seems to work just fine. You can actually play back from your computer to tv over s-vhs or record on vhs (after editing captured video). Stereo audio l/r and composite ntsc in/out and s-video in/out. I can sort of hide them a bit by lowering the brightness and boosting contrast during capture, but they are still visible on dark scenes. It is worse when I use any switching boxes, like a radio shack s-video 4x1 switch box. ![]() Well, the video tape transfer is working, however, my UTV recordings are getting some horizontal bands of noise that scroll up the screen slowly. My goal was 2 fold: transfer old video tape to the computer, and capture output from saved UTV shows in s-video quality. I just bought myself some new capture toys. ![]()
